Sparklers

by Evelyn (age 10) | Partner Organization: Street Kids Direct

One time at my house, my parents came home very late at night and brought a bag full of gifts and games. The street was full of kids. They were playing with fireworks, sparklers, and smoke bombs. This night was so beautiful that I didn’t want it to end. Every thing that starts must also end. That night, I was going to burn my first sparkler but it was scary. I’ve never done that before. On Christmas, I used to have fireworks and smoke bombs, but not sparklers. That’s why I was so excited when my dad took everything out. He gave me the sparklers and, at first, they didn’t want to burn, but my big brother helped me and it was a Merry Christmas.
