If you haven't read Hayden's story, you need to do so before you listen or read one more word. STOP! READ HIS STORY! (It is very quiet as people are reading Hayden's story...) Now, now you can read this and hear the song. Everyone in Hayden's family has gone through some hard times, and Hayden described them in such a way I doubted I could put his feelings into words. The way his story was told only in black ink...it seemed so stark and hopeless. And then I reflected on one page of what Hayen had written that had only these words: "I'm starting with the man in the mirror."--Michael Jackson I read back through Hayden's story again, and again, and again, and I saw the cover in a new light (that's MJ's glove, MJ dancing in the corner, MJ owns The Beatles' music rights, or a lot of them). I saw Hayden's life in a new way. Bad things have happened, but it seems Hayden's mantra is that he is going to be the one to make a change and be the one to make it better. So, Hayden, here's a song for you. Perhaps you will hear some homage to MJ in places (a repetitive rhythm beat worth moondancing to; funky 70's Telecaster and bass licks by DMF; a lengthy spoken piece of poetry narration NOT by a famous horror film actor; and of course, reference to a mirror that challenges us and empowers us). Hayden, it doesn't matter if your story is black and/or white (did ya get that?)...THANKS for being a man in the mirror. You make a difference in many lives. DSF
