Niqaab (veil) doesn't stop me from playing football.
by Shagufta (age 13) | Partner Organization: CEQUIN India
By the age of 10 I was told to wear a hijab and behave like a lady, like my three elder sisters before me. The biggest challenge was to now convince my parents. But I was determined. Where there is a will there is a way. I had never felt so passionate about doing something like this before. I felt a surge of courage, to take on any resistance to my plans to learn football. Wearing a Naqab as our cultural and religious identity, is very important to our community. I am now in grade 9. I am a confident football player and have participated in several tournaments.
